ACTIVTox®

Eliminate toxic side effects of potential drugs

Substantially more information on the ACTIVTox platform is available at www.activtox.com.

The liver is often the target of drug toxicity. ACTIVTox, the first system to provide structured data on human drug toxicity based on the proprietary C3A human liver cell line, is a series of in vitro toxicology assays that accurately predict the liver's response to new drug compounds. Liver metabolism is frequently the major determinant of the activity and/or half-life of a compound in the bloodstream.

ACTIVTox offers these additional advantages:

  • Applicable across all stages of drug discovery
  • Human liver cell based fluorescence and absorbance assays
  • Cells are standardized and stored in frozen cell banks
  • Results are reproducible
  • High throughput predictive toxicology
  • Available on demand
  • Compatible with any robotic screening system
  • Highly predictable in comparison to HepG2 based toxicity screening
  • Patented liver cell line - C3A
  • C3A expresses many of the hepatocyte specific pathways and proteins
  • Proprietary culture medium and methodology

SCI is providing the means for large scale testing so that even the most comprehensive libraries can be screened and ranked for important metabolic parameters. This type of information helps to select the right candidate earlier in the process. Several recent drug withdrawals reflect the economical, financial and social impact of not making the right choices at this critical stage of drug development.

  • ACTIVTox® accurately identifies liver specific toxins.
  • ACTIVTox® replicates the results found in the MEIC study.
  • ACTIVTox® provides structural information related to toxicity.
